XTC’s sixth album, Mummer, marks their shift to a studio-only band, exploring more experimental and expansive sounds without live performance constraints. Originally released after their UK hit English Settlement, it features a widescreen approach to songwriting and production. Though initially overlooked commercially due to no touring and changing radio trends, Mummer has since gained recognition as a crucial step toward the band’s later successes. This reissue restores Andy Partridge’s original artwork, is mastered by Jason Mitchell, and is the first LP release in decades.
