Kings of USBM Wolves in the Throne Room return with Estuary, their most ferocious and genre-bending record to date. Rooted in analog production and physical craftsmanship, the album imagines a world 1,000 years after the collapse of civilisation, where nature has reclaimed the ruins and wilderness has become a realm of magic.
Raw, volatile and infused with noisy industrial elements, Estuary explores the tension between stillness and noise, nature and machinery, and the ancient and the futuristic. Produced by the band, the album was largely recorded at their Owl Lodge studio in Olympia, Washington, with drums tracked at The Unknown and touring bassist Galen Baudhuin providing the album’s devastating low end.
