The sixth Warrington-Runcorn album continues Gordon Chapman-Fox’s exploration of New Towns and the collapse of the post-war consensus, this time focusing on the decline and privatisation of public services since 1980. Gordon condemns the selling off of vital infrastructure like power, water, and rail, now “barely functional” and serving shareholders over the public. His anger fuels a record rooted in the present rather than nostalgia. The People Matter—the sole track on side two—embodies this ethos. Drawn from his live shows, the album’s tracks carry a raw, danceable energy, merging Warrington-Runcorn’s trademark atmosphere with an irresistible urge to move.
