Wattstax was a landmark 1972 benefit concert organized by Stax Records to mark the seventh anniversary of the Watts riots, drawing over 100,000 attendees to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for a day of soul, funk, and gospel. Featuring iconic performances from Isaac Hayes, The Staple Singers, Rufus Thomas, and more, the event was immortalized in a best-selling soundtrack and the acclaimed 1973 documentary Wattstax.
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Stax Records presents Wattstax: The Complete Concert, a 6-CD set capturing the full show with stage speeches, plus a 68-page book with essays and photos.
