Secret Superstar Sounds from Soul Jazz is a rare punk/powerpop compilation featuring little-known late 1970s bands like The Squares, The Meanies, and Plummet Airline. Blending 60s melodic pop and garage with 70s punk energy, these DIY bands fell outside mainstream trends, often self-releasing records with minimal promotion. Inspired by the punk DIY ethos, their limited output remains hidden gems and a fascinating snapshot of a largely forgotten underground scene.
