While recording Sex and Food, Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s Ruban Nielson, Jacob Portrait, and Kody Nielson collaborated with local Vietnamese musicians at Phu Sa Studios in Hanoi. The resulting IC-01 Hanoi sessions blend jazz, fusion, and avant-garde influences, featuring experimental textures shaped by Ruban’s fuzzy lead guitar and the band’s dynamic interplay. Inspired by Miles Davis’ On The Corner, Hanoi is a bold exploration of sound and improvisation.
