Preservation Act 1 is The Kinks’ 12th studio album, released in 1973 as an ambitious rock opera exploring society through small-town nostalgia. Opening with the epic “Morning Song” and featuring Dave Davies’ classic riff in “Daylight,” the album echoes the style of The Village Green Preservation Society. Highlights include the laid-back “Sitting in the Midday Sun” and the beautiful “Sweet Lady Genevieve,” both underrated Ray Davies gems.
