Misfits is The Kinks’ seventeenth studio album, released in May 1978. Recorded mostly at their KONK studio, it continues the mainstream rock style of Sleepwalker and reflects key lineup changes, including bassist Andy Pyle replacing John Dalton for this album and the final appearance of pianist John Gosling. Featuring singles like “Misfits,” “Rock ’n’ Roll Fantasy,” and “Live Life,” the album explores themes of alienation and resilience with introspective songwriting. Newly remastered, Misfits remains a significant and personal work in The Kinks’ late-70s catalog, available on heavyweight vinyl and CD.
