Since forming in high school, Brisbane trio The Goon Sax—Riley Jones, Louis Forster, and James Harrison—have been known for their unpretentious, energetic homemade pop. Their first album for Matador, Mirror II, marks a bold new chapter: a cohesive, eclectic mix of disco, folk, and no-wave skronk. Moving beyond adolescent insecurities, the album expands their sound with raw lyrics, sprechgesang, and intricate guitar pop.
