Originally released in 2004, following their self-released EP nul book standard, the album features five tracks produced by Andy Gill (Gang of Four) and the rest by early-career producer Paul Epworth. It received widespread acclaim from Rolling Stone, NME, Pitchfork, Q, The Guardian, and AllMusic. Their cover of Kate Bush’s "Hounds of Love" reached the UK Top 10 and won Single of the Year at the 2005 NME Awards.
