When Ringo fell ill just before their 1964 world tour, stand-in drummer Jimmy Nicol joined The Beatles for early shows in Denmark, Holland, and Hong Kong. Nothing, however, matched the frenzy in Australia, where the band dominated the charts and were welcomed like messiahs. Ringo returned mid-tour for packed shows across Australia and New Zealand. Two Melbourne concerts were broadcast locally, including the The Beatles Sing For Shell TV special.
