Steve Hackett’s 30th solo album, The Circus and the Nightwhale, is a powerful concept record with autobiographical roots, following a young character named Travla. “It says the things I’ve been wanting to say for a very long time,” says Hackett.
Recorded between tours with an international lineup, the album features longtime collaborators including Roger King, Rob Townsend, Jonas Reingold, Nad Sylvan, and Steve’s brother John Hackett. “It’s a journey,” Hackett adds, “that starts dirty and smoky… and becomes heavenly.”
