Steely Dan’s second album, released in 1973 by ABC Records, went gold in the U.S. Founded by Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, the band gained fame in the late ’70s with a unique blend of jazz, rock, funk, R&B, and pop. Known for sophisticated melodies, complex harmonies, and studio perfectionism, Steely Dan evolved from a live band into a studio-focused project, using session musicians and pausing live shows from 1974 to 1993. Despite this, their albums and singles became critical and radio favorites throughout the decade.
