Soft Cell’s Memorabilia—recorded in 1981 after discovering early acid house in NYC—fused gritty synth pop with proto acid-techno beats, becoming a seminal prelude to rave culture. Though initially charting low, it gained club traction and led to their breakthrough album Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret. In 2023, original producer Daniel Miller reworked Memorabilia into a techno hit popular in Berlin clubs, joined by remixes from France’s The Hacker and Berlin’s Wally Funk, bringing fresh energy to this iconic track.
