The 1969 follow-up to Silver Apples' groundbreaking debut, Contact saw the duo pushing deeper into their songwriting psyche, crafting a darker, more emotionally charged collection. While their debut introduced a sound the world had never heard, Contact finds them fully inhabiting that sonic space with greater urgency and experimentation. Sourced from the original master tapes, this reissue includes previously unseen photos of the master tape boxes and restores the original, controversial artwork — featuring the band in a Pan Am jet cockpit on the front and superimposed over a plane crash on the back. The imagery led to a lawsuit from Pan Am, forcing both Kapp Records and the band to part ways. Despite the fallout, Silver Apples' trailblazing sound went on to influence artists ranging from Stereolab and the Beastie Boys to Blur and beyond.
