Rotting Christ have evolved since 1987 into a defining force in extreme metal, blending black metal with industrial, gothic, and traditional influences to create their distinct “dark metal” sound. After extensive global touring with bands like Behemoth and Cradle of Filth, their influence was honored by the tribute album An Evil Existence for Rotting Christ.
Their ninth album, Sanctus Diavolos, features a streamlined trio lineup led by Sakis Tolis. It returns to a darker, more aggressive style while incorporating atmospheric choirs, samples, and modern production, resulting in a raw yet epic release that reinforces their signature sound.
