Richard Hell and the Voidoids’ second and final album, Destiny Street (1982), has been remixed and remastered for its 40th anniversary, finally reflecting Hell’s original vision of raw, stripped-down rock. Dissatisfied with the original treble-heavy mix, Hell reconstructed the album using lost rhythm tracks found on cassette, adding new guitars and vocals for a cleaner sound. Following his influential role in shaping punk with bands like Television and the Heartbreakers, Hell’s Destiny Street stands as a key punk milestone, now presented as intended with new liner notes from Hell.
