Pete Shelley's 1982 solo debut Homosapien marked a bold departure from his Buzzcocks roots, embracing synth-driven electronic pop over punk. Drawing on material dating back to 1973, Shelley crafted the album with producer Martin Rushent, playing most instruments himself. Inspired by glam and experimental sounds, Homosapien channelled personal themes and avant-garde influences, with its title track gaining attention—and controversy—for its provocative lyrics. Though initially resisted by EMI, the album found success, especially in the U.S., signalling a new creative chapter for Shelley.

CD and LP feature the original  fully restored artwork with new photos and imagery and extensive sleeve notes from the acclaimed writer Clinton Heylin. Bonus tracks include B-sides, dubs and extended mixes.
