McCartney II was Paul’s first solo album since forming Wings, recorded in 1979 on his Scottish farm during an uncertain time for the band. Featuring a cosy, homemade vibe with Paul playing all instruments, its innovative electronic style marked a creative hobby-like return to the approach of his 1970 McCartney album. Released in May 1980 after Wings’ final tour, it includes tracks inspired by Paul’s new equipment experiments.
