Obvurt is a death metal trio from Quebec City, Canada, whose name combines obvert (to oppose) and hurt (to wound). Formed in 2020 by Philippe Drouin (ex–Unbreakable Hatred), Olivier Pinard (Cryptopsy, Cattle Decapitation), and Samuel Santiago, the band’s story is rooted in resilience. After a devastating motorcycle accident left Philippe unable to play guitar, he relearned the instrument entirely left-handed—a remarkable recovery that shapes both the title and lyrical themes of their album.
