Initially hesitant about making a Christmas album, Nick Lowe quickly embraced the idea, seeing it as “really good fun.” He wrote two new songs, collaborated with Ry Cooder, featured a Ron Sexsmith track, and covered classics like Wizzard’s “I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day.” The result is a joyful, cheeky take that gives “vulgar, tawdry commercialism” a good name.
