Mid-City Island, recorded in 2014, is Moses Sumney’s debut project, created entirely in his Los Angeles apartment on a four-track cassette recorder. To mark its 10th anniversary, he fulfilled his promise to press it on vinyl. Reflecting on the era, Moses describes Mid-City as both a literal and metaphorical space—visible yet invisible—mirroring his early career. Known for defying categorization, Sumney blends music, fashion, and film to embrace the power of the undefinable as a form of resistance.
