By their final album, Mojave 3 had moved far beyond the country-tinged slowcore of their early years. Puzzles Like You embraced jangly guitars, upbeat melodies, and a bright indie-pop sound, drawing comparisons to bands like The Shins and Band of Horses while sounding worlds apart from their debut work.
Led largely by Neil Halstead, the album featured standout tracks such as “Most Days,” “Big Star Baby,” and “The Mutineer.” Shortly after recording, Rachel Goswell faced health issues that halted her musical activities, and with their record deal complete and members pursuing other projects, the band quietly came to an end.
In the years that followed, renewed interest in shoegaze and the resurgence of Slowdive brought fresh attention to Mojave 3’s catalogue. The band's growing legacy has made their records among the most requested reissues on 4AD, and the 2026 campaign reissuing all five albums offers a chance for a new generation to rediscover their music.
