For Miles Davis’ centennial, his most requested reissue finally returns: the legendary Plugged Nickel recordings from December 1965. Capturing the Second Great Quintet—Davis, Shorter, Hancock, Carter, and Williams—at their most daring, these seven sets became one of jazz’s most mythologized live documents. First fully issued in the early ’90s and long out of print, the complete performances now reappear in deluxe editions: a 10LP box (cut from Mosaic’s high-res masters, with individual jackets, gold foil slipcase, and 44-page book) and an 8CD box (mini gatefolds, gold foil slipcase, and the same extensive photos, notes, and commentary). A landmark live recording, finally restored.
