The final instalment in Mick Harvey’s Serge Gainsbourg translation series, Intoxicated Women focuses on Gainsbourg’s 1960s duets and songs for female vocalists. Featuring guest singers including Andrea Schroeder, Channthy Kak, Xanthe Waite, and Harvey’s son Solomon, the album opens with a sultry German take on “Je T’aime…” and ends with “Cargo Cult” from Melody Nelson, offering a rich collection of Gainsbourg gems reimagined in English (and a touch of Khmer).
