North Country Maid, Marianne Faithfull’s second folk album, has been remastered by Grammy-nominated Andrew Batt, with sleeve notes featuring Marianne’s input before her passing in 2025. Released in 1966, it shifted focus from American to British folk, establishing her as a singular interpretive voice. The album features early versions of now-classic songs like “Scarborough Fair,” alongside moving renditions of works by Cyril Tawney, Bert Jansch, and Ewan MacColl. With traditional tracks like “She Moved Thru’ The Fair,” and rich acoustic arrangements, it remains her most acclaimed '60s LP.
