Lou Barlow reflects on Emoh as his first true solo LP after early projects with Sebadoh and Folk Implosion. Recorded between 2003-2004 with producer Mark Nevers and friends like Imaad Wasif, Emoh blends his lo-fi roots with fuller production. The mostly acoustic album captures personal struggles—his marriage’s end, broken partnerships, and adapting to LA—while marking a creative rebirth and his transition into fatherhood. Though initially released without much vinyl support, this reissue by Merge brings Emoh back in its intended format.
