Lithic is Laura Misch’s immersive new album, inspired by stone, water, wind, and lightning. Combining field recordings from caves, quarries, coastlines, and rock pools with saxophone, voice, electronics, strings, and percussion, the album creates a sound world that feels both ancient and contemporary. Using instruments and natural sound sources such as struck slate, lithophones, hydrophones, and geophones, Misch explores the relationship between people and the natural environment across locations including London, Cornwall, Hydra, and Dungeness.

Drawing on deep listening, eco-acoustics, and geology, Lithic is influenced by figures such as Barbara Hepworth, Pauline Oliveros, Annea Lockwood, Ruth Allen, and David Haskell. The album treats sound as a living material shaped by time, while reflecting on nature, aging, and connection. Deeply atmospheric and meditative, Lithic offers a powerful, elemental listening experience that balances raw physicality with quiet introspection.
