The Standard School Broadcast Recordings is the first official release of a rare 1973 John Lee Hooker session, long considered lost. Recorded direct-to-tape at Coast Recorders in San Francisco, it features Hooker with his regular rhythm section—Gino Skaggs (bass), Ken Swank (drums), and his pianist son Robert—capturing him during a pivotal moment in his career. Originally made for an educational radio series, this electric blues session now sees the light of day, with the CD edition including two bonus tracks: “Sallie Mae” and an untitled instrumental.
