Cathedral is the thrilling new album and companion graphic novel from director and musician John Carpenter, inspired by a dream he had in 2024. Set in downtown Los Angeles, the story follows an abandoned cathedral, a gruesome murder, and a powerful supernatural entity lurking beneath the city.
Created as the soundtrack to the graphic novel, each track corresponds to a chapter of the story, with liner notes providing prompts for an immersive listening experience. Musically, Cathedral combines the eerie atmosphere of Carpenter's classic film scores with a heavier, riff-driven sound. Written by John Carpenter, Sandy King, and Sean Sobczak, the graphic novel is published by Storm King Comics, while the album is released by Sacred Bones.
