In 2018, David Gordon Green’s Halloween, starring Jamie Lee Curtis, became the franchise’s highest-grossing chapter and set a record for the biggest opening weekend for a horror film starring a woman. It marked John Carpenter’s first direct involvement since 1982, as executive producer, creative consultant, and soundtrack composer alongside son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies.
For Halloween Kills, the trio returned, expanding their iconic score with vintage synths, live instruments, and experimental sounds pushed by director Green. Tracks like “Unkillable” and “Rampage” blend intense synths and guitars for a chilling effect, while pieces like “Michael’s Legend” highlight delicate piano work. As with Carpenter’s previous work, Halloween Kills offers a powerful, standalone soundtrack that shines both within and beyond the film’s context.
