Benefit (1970) to Aqualung (1971) marks one of rock’s most remarkable leaps. Jethro Tull evolved from electrified folk-rock to sophisticated conceptual rock, tackling themes of Christian hypocrisy in England. While not yet full prog-rock, Aqualung features iconic tracks like “Locomotive Breath,” “Cross Eyed Mary,” and the title track, blending complex lyrics with powerful riffs.
