James Yorkston, Nina Persson, and The Second Hand Orchestra release The Great White Sea Eagle, a follow-up to the acclaimed The Wide, Wide River. Inspired by Yorkston’s switch from guitar to piano, the album was created spontaneously in the studio with little prior rehearsal, featuring on-the-spot arrangements and Nina Persson’s guest vocals. The result blends light, wild sounds with dark humour and themes of life, grief, family, and nature, including a tribute to Scott Hutchison. The release follows Yorkston’s novel The Book of the Gaels, recently named Book of the Month by The Times.
