Blue Note founder Alfred Lion hailed pianist Herbie Nichols as as original and important as Thelonious Monk. Though little-known in his time, Nichols’ unique compositions like “The Third World” and “2300 Skidoo” gained recognition through The Prophetic Herbie Nichols Vol. 1 & 2, featuring Al McKibbon and Art Blakey. These two 10” LPs are combined here on a single 12” gatefold with original covers and liner notes.
