Released eight months after Wake of the Flood, From The Mars Hotel is the Grateful Dead’s second album on their own label, featuring enduring staples like “Scarlet Begonias,” “Ship of Fools,” and “U.S. Blues.” Many tracks became live favourites, with Phil Lesh’s songs “Pride of Cucamonga” and “Unbroken Chain” marking his final studio vocal contributions. The album peaked at #16 on the Billboard chart in 1974 and remains a fan favorite 50 years later.
