Field Music’s Limits of Language is their first album of new music in nearly four years, marking a fresh direction in sound and scope after their Flat White Moon tour ended in 2022. Following solo projects by David and Peter that explored jazz, electronica, and brass collaborations, these experiments inspired the new album’s mix of synth textures, guitar, and found-sound percussion. Songs like “The Waitress of St Louis” pay tribute to local memories, while opener “Six Weeks, Nine Wells” contrasts childhood nostalgia with adult fears. This release continues Field Music’s impressive 19-year streak, totaling 21 productions.
