Formed by ex-session drummer Maurice White, Earth, Wind & Fire rose from jazzy beginnings to become funk powerhouses in the late ’70s. Known for their theatrical shows and cosmic flair, their music was grounded in sophisticated brass, Afro rhythms, and Philip Bailey’s soaring falsetto. This collection highlights their peak era (1977–1981) with classics like “Fantasy,” “In the Stone,” and “Let’s Groove,” capturing the band at their funk-pop best before electro-funk shifted the musical landscape.
