Future Development is Del the Funky Homosapien’s third album and first independent solo release after leaving Elektra, originally issued on cassette in 1997 and reissued on CD and vinyl in 2002. Produced mainly by Del with contributions from A-Plus, Opio, and Toure, the album features a lone guest appearance from Casual on “Checking Out The Rivalry.”
Blending the funk of Del’s debut with the darker, futuristic sound of No Need for Alarm, Future Development finds him sharpening his lyrical style through vivid reflections on Oakland, society, and hip-hop. Often overlooked, it stands as a key milestone in his artistic growth, highlighting the creativity and independence that would define his later career.
