Released: 27/11/26
Bosse-de-Nage and Deafheaven’s landmark 2012 Split returns for the first time in 14 years, newly remixed and remastered on vinyl and cassette, with new artwork by photographer Dylan Hausthor.
An early collaboration between two influential Bay Area metal bands, the release pairs Deafheaven’s cover of Mogwai’s “Punk Rock / Cody” with Bosse-de-Nage’s “A Mimesis of Purpose”, their first recording featuring strings arranged and performed by Astrid J. Smith. Originally released by The Flenser in 2012, Split captured both bands at a formative point in the development of blackgaze and post-black metal.
For the 2026 reissue, longtime Deafheaven collaborator Jack Shirley remixed “Punk Rock / Cody”, while Richard Chowenhill remixed “A Mimesis of Purpose”, bringing new clarity and depth to both recordings.
