The Fools, Dan's fourth album, follows 2020’s critically acclaimed Grand Plan, which marked a shift from synth-pop to Laurel Canyon-inspired folk rock. This new release spans the pandemic, a major breakup, the death of Dan’s grandmother, and rare returns to the UK. Despite heavy themes, the album finds levity and beauty, blending country, disco, and psychedelia with nods to Carole King and James Taylor. Recorded mostly live at Spacebomb Studios with Matthew E. White and his band, Dan also co-produced, shaping the sound with late-night studio tweaks.
