Polytechnic Youth release the killer 1981 cassette only release Here by Colin Potter, expanded to a double LP with all sorts of additional bonus material. Ace new sleeve art is from Jonathan Coleclough who was behind the artistic reins of the initial Mirage cassette release 38 years ago. You probably know by now that Colin is the head behind respected electronic label ICR, and is a longterm member of NWW and has played with the likes of Current 93 and Organum etc; and that his revered back catalogue of hugely influential cassette only, DIY electronic releases is slowly being transferred to vinyl via the likes of (PY sister label) Deep Distance and Dark Entries? Here continues the reissue programme, and as he pieced together the out-takes and demos to form this double LP, Colin says “’Here’ marked a move away from some of the more song-orientated music I had been making up to then, towards purely instrumental tracks. On the (new) sleeve I describe it as ‘rural electronic music’ which was to some extent a reflection of my life in a small village in North Yorkshire. Listening back to it now, I can’t figure out how I managed to do it with just a 4 track recorder....” The LP is of course wonderful, and it appears as a double LP vinyl only pressing on Polytechnic Youth. Pressing of 300 so move swiftly….
