Cathedral’s self-financed 1990 cassette In Memoriam is an underground doom metal classic that established the band’s distinctive sound and would go on to influence the genre throughout the 1990s and beyond. Murkier, earthier and more deathly than their debut Forest of Equilibrium, it transforms the traditional doom influences of Trouble, Saint Vitus, Pentagram and Witchfinder General into something darker, heavier and more extreme.
