Brånd is an experimental post-black metal project from Linz, Upper Austria, founded in 2015 by Vritra (also of Kringa and Weathered Crest). Originally conceived as a boundary-free solo outlet, the project has evolved over the past decade, exploring a wide range of styles—from raw black metal and lo-fi ambient to post-punk and psychedelic rock—while collaborating with underground acts such as Absolute Key, Calvary, and Rosa Nebel.
Their debut full-length, Tåg & Nåcht, expands on earlier 4-track recordings to deliver a richly arranged and stylistically diverse album. Drawing on influences as varied as post-punk, folk-tinged black metal, anarcho punk, krautrock, and blackgaze, the record blends these elements into a cohesive and unpredictable whole. Despite its roots in black metal, the album’s sound is notably warm and textured, showcasing Brånd’s ability to move fluidly across genres while maintaining a distinct identity.
