Out of print on vinyl for 30 years, Belly’s King returns via 4AD, following a Record Store Day 2025 green vinyl pressing, now on standard black vinyl with remastering by Kevin Vanbergen. The album retains its original Chris Bigg sleeve design with photography by Christopher Gorman and Stephen DiRado.
Written in rural Rhode Island after bassist Gail Greenwood joined, and recorded at Compass Point in the Bahamas with legendary producer Glyn Johns, King captured the band’s live chemistry with minimal overdubs. Featuring singles “Now They'll Sleep,” “Seal My Fate,” and “Super-Connected,” the album showcased heavier sounds, sharper guitar interplay, and more political and personal lyrics. SPIN praised it as Belly’s leap from “indie darlings to rock contenders.”
