Hammerheart is the fifth studio album from Swedish metal pioneers Bathory and a cornerstone of the Viking metal genre. Following Blood Fire Death, it continues Quorthon’s shift away from black metal towards epic, atmospheric compositions inspired by Norse mythology and history. Alongside Bathory’s genre-defining early releases, Hammerheart helped establish the foundations for the Scandinavian metal that followed.
