Recorded in 1969 but unreleased until 2003, Passing Ships captures pianist and composer Andrew Hill at his creative peak. Featuring an all-star ensemble including Woody Shaw, Dizzy Reece, Joe Farrell, and Ron Carter, the album’s seven original compositions rank among Hill’s finest. Now presented for the first time on vinyl as part of Blue Note’s Tone Poet series, this deluxe all-analog edition was mastered by Kevin Gray and pressed on 180g audiophile vinyl at RTI.
