Newly remastered from the original tapes, Live at Max’s Kansas City captures Alan Vega’s July 18, 1980 performance at the legendary Manhattan punk club, just weeks before the release of his landmark self-titled solo debut. Across seven tracks, Vega is joined by Texan guitarist Phil Hawk, combining rockabilly, blues, electronic noise and tape manipulation in a raw, experimental performance.
Discovered in the Alan Vega archives and remastered by Josh Bonati, the recording captures Vega at a pivotal moment in his career, with the energy of the audience adding to the volatile atmosphere. This previously unheard performance is available on vinyl for the first time.
