Soft Cell’s sold-out farewell show at The O2 in 2018 was billed as their final performance, closing a career that had shaped British synth-pop with hits like Tainted Love. But the overwhelming response – and the duo’s rediscovered chemistry – sparked a revival instead of an ending. Marc Almond and Dave Ball, who first met at Leeds Polytechnic in 1977, returned with the album Happiness Not Included and a UK/US tour, mixing new songs with classics and performing their debut Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret in full for its 40th anniversary.
