British Electric Foundation’s early 1980s electronic recordings, originally cassette-only as Music for Stowaways (1981), mark the first post-Human League work by Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh. Joined by Adi Newton and John Wilson, B.E.F. crafted innovative tracks designed for the then-new Sony Walkman, blending early Heaven 17 material and experimental sounds. This influential collection laid groundwork for future electronic music and was named one of Uncut’s “50 Greatest Lost Albums of All Time.”
