Wretch (1991) is the raw and unfiltered debut album from Kyuss, laying the groundwork for what would become their signature desert rock sound. Heavier on traditional metal and punk influences than their later, more groove-driven work, Wretch features gritty production, fuzz-drenched guitars, and the early chemistry between John Garcia’s commanding vocals and Josh Homme’s sludgy riffs. Tracks like “Love Has Passed Me By” and “Black Widow” hint at the slow-burning power Kyuss would later master.
